As of writing, Joanna and Chris chose the hottest day of the year to have their wedding, the mercury hitting 30°C (that’s pretty extreme for the UK!).
Joanna was a picture of calm, spending the morning with family and friends in a much cooler hotel room at the lovely Cisswood House Hotel, a luxurious country hotel outside Horsham, East Sussex. I could tell just how thrilled and excited Joanna was about what was to come.
After taking full photography advantage of the sunlight cascading through the hotel window, I went and met Chris who was chilling with his buddies (as much as one can chill in 30°C) in the mottled shade of the trees within the hotel grounds.
A quick wedding ceremony followed to prevent the guests from melting/going up in smoke (we wouldn’t be in Britain if people weren’t complaining about the weather) and then the couple took a lovely stroll together for shots around the hotel grounds, a walk which made me wonder why I’d never shot a wedding at this hotel before seen as it was so picturesque.
Some extremely refreshing cold drinks were served before the guests moved into the very welcome air conditioned reception room…bliss. The wedding cake was an hilarious homage and window into their home life together, see below!
The reception ended with speeches and a fun game of Mr and Mrs where everyone got to see how well (or not) the couple knew each other!
A little later, Joanna and Chris were having the time of their lives as they waltzed around the dance floor during the first dance before inviting the whole crew in to bust some moves with them! Finally, as the sun was going down we took the opportunity to get some sunset shots again in the grounds.
Joanna, Chris, thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer, you were excellent!
