The amazing Jess and Max organised an absolutely perfect day that any couple or Sussex wedding photographer would dream of. A Slaugham Place wedding is one of the best kept secrets of the Sussex wedding scene, but if you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime, secluded countryside venue – stop the search!
Slaugham Place wedding ceremony
The towering arches of the ruins make your Slaugham Place wedding ceremony feel every bit like it’s going down in history, with the added romance and grandeur of the stone columns. It’s a Sussex wedding photographer’s dream booking, as groom Max wittily remarked to me – “Neil, we organised this venue all for you”.
Jess opted for a vintage-style dress with lots of lace, which suited the setting down to the ground. A pair of floral urns to either side of the central arch were all this epic venue needed for decoration – the stonework does the rest.
Marquee reception on the lawn
After saying their ‘I dos’, Jess, Max and their guests spilled out onto the lawns for garden games and bubbly in the sun. We also took the opportunity to steal away for some romantic Slaugham Place wedding portraits. The landscaped gardens offer a treasure trove of bridges, stone walls and green backdrops to give your photos the wow-factor.
The croquet won and Champagne drunk, it was on to the marquee for a rustic reception. Ivy encircled the room and floral table centres added a touch of whimsy in a vintage palette of lavender and green. And by opening up the side panels of the marquee, the couple brought the outside (and those epic views) in.
Jess and Max were so sweet. Walking around with them on the couple shoot felt particularly relaxed and fun – exactly how it should be! It was an honour to capture a day as epic as theirs as their Slaugham Place wedding photographer, so here’s to many more to come.
